Where can I find a Trouble Shooting Guide for Rotary Lift Products?

Rotary lifts are designed and manufactured to provide the reliability required for their intended use and also simplify field service when it is required. The key to the reliability of any mechanical device is periodic maintenance.

A simple routine maintenance program will definitely increase its life and efficiency and may reveal sources of potential trouble. This guide has been prepared by Rotary lift to assist you.....keep it handy for ready reference. It is purposely general in nature, but at the same time will reveal the source of most malfunctions when applied.

Can Rotary Lifts be Installed Outside?

Subject:Outside Lift Installation

Two Post Lifts: The lift may be installed outdoors provided it is located under a covering suitable for protection from direct precipitation. The standard power unit motor and overhead switch are not suitable for applications where the motor or overhead switch could be subjected to direct precipitation or jets of water, such as a wash bay.

Four Post Lifts: This lift can also be installed outdoors provided it is located under a covering suitable for protection form direct precipitation.

The four post family of lifts is classified as a Hydraulically Driven Mechanical Lift, meaning only the cables support the vehicle weight. These lifts require more frequent inspection and maintenance and experience accelerated wear and tear when not protected from the elements. For this reason, we DO NOT recommend that the lift be installed where it has direct exposure to the elements or in a wash bay.

Low and Mid Rise Lifts: This style lift may be installed outside provided some type of cover is placed over the power unit.

When installing lifts outdoors, all electrical must meet local codes concerning the application. This may include, but is not limited to, Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit breakers and watertight conduit and fittings.

Even though our lifts utilize components that resist rusting, such as black oxide pins and galvanized cables, any lift installed outdoors will require additional maintenance. Consult your authorized Rotary Installer before installing a lift for outside application.

Can the Power Unit be Mounted on Either Side of a Two Post Lift?

SPOA7 / SPOA9 Lifts (Non Inbay Models)
Yes, the power unit can be installed on the driver’s side of the lift (consult a Rotary Authorized Installer) but the preferred location is the passenger side.

The factory has located the power unit on the passenger side of the lift to reduce the steps required for the technician when positioning the adapters and raising the vehicle.

Typically, when placing a vehicle on the lift, the technician spots the left front wheel in the proper spotting dish position, as determined by the wheelbase. The technician then exits the vehicle and proceeds to locate each adapter according to the vehicle manufacturers recommended lift points, first on the driver’s side, then on the passenger’s
side. By locating the power unit on the passenger side of the lift he is now ready to continue with the lifting procedures.

See SPOA7 / SPOA9 Operation Instructions for further details.

2 Post Inbay Models
On a 2 Post Inbay lift the power unit can be installed on either side side of the lift as long as the master control box is located on the same side as the power unit.
