11.01.2016 | Rotary Lift® Patented TRIO™ Arms Now Standard on SmartLift® Medium-Duty Inground Lift Unique three-stage arms offer greater reach, versatility and ease of use

4 Post Lift Rotary Lift’s patented TRIO™ Arms are now standard on its medium-duty SL212 12,000 lb. capacity SmartLift® inground lift, making it easier for technicians to work on a wide range of cars, trucks and vans.

TRIO Arms, standard on 10,000 lb. capacity SmartLift inground lifts since 2011, provide an 18 percent wider reach than standard arms and a unique sliding adapter system that enables technicians to more quickly and precisely spot a vehicle.

“We want to get technicians off the ground and working faster and TRIO Arms are all about productivity. Technicians can simply slide the lightweight adapter to the desired position, without getting on their hands and knees to reach under the vehicle,” says Jim Dirksen, vice president, light duty sales for Rotary Lift. “These unique lift arms save technicians time, stress and energy. Their productivity-enhancing versatility, ease-of-use and precision make them very popular with technicians, service managers and shop owners.”

TRIO Arms provide all the capabilities of regular three-stage arms in a more versatile package. On TRIO Arms, the third telescoping arm segment is replaced with an integrated lightweight sliding adapter assembly. This design enables technicians to easily switch between three-position flip-up adapters for body-on-frame vehicles, round polymer adapters for unibody vehicles, and thread-up truck adapters depending on the job at hand. The adapters can be rotated 360 degrees and easily slide along the lift arm, enabling technicians to make precise adjustments to the adapter location when setting up the lift.

Environmentally responsible Rotary Lift Smartlift inground lifts are made from recycled materials, are contained in a polymer housing which protects the lift and the environment, and are bio-fluid compatible, using 95% less oil than traditional style inground lifts. They have a small footprint, making it possible to install more lifts in less space, which translates into lower construction costs and increased shop profits.

TRIO Arms are standard on both the SL212 SmartLift inground lift and the ShockWave™-equipped SL212SW SmartLift  models.  The SL212SW SmartLift can raise a vehicle 83 inches off the ground in just 30 seconds and lower it in 19 seconds flat, making it the world’s fastest inground lift for vehicles weighing up to 12,000 lbs. This super speed enables technicians to complete more jobs per day, making more money for themselves and their shops.

Made in Madison, Indiana, SmartLift inground lifts are ALI gold-label certified to meet industry safety and performance standards.

10.17.2016 | Dealers Should Ask These Eight Questions When Considering a
Four-Post Truck Lift Rotary Lift offers tips for choosing a 30,000 lb. capacity four-post drive-on lift

4 Post Lift

Car dealers selling Ford, GM and Ram commercial trucks require lifts with at least 25,000 lbs. capacity to properly service those vehicles. Since 30,000-pound capacity four-post drive-on vehicle lifts like the Rotary Lift SM30 are easy to install, use and maintain, they are a popular choice.
“Medium-duty four-post lifts are ideal for general service, maintenance and inspection procedures because they have easy drive-on access and an open space between the runways that provides technicians underbody vehicle access along the complete length of the runway,” says Doug Spiller, heavy-duty product manager for Rotary Lift. “But not all 30,000-pound capacity four-post lifts are created equal, and dealers can shop wisely by asking these eight simple questions.”

Does the lift have the same capacity at different wheelbases?

Don’t be fooled by the stated lift capacity. The lifting capacity of some medium-duty four-post lifts goes down as the wheelbase of the vehicle to be lifted goes down. Make sure the lift has the capacity needed for all wheelbase sizes of the vehicles you need to service.

Does the lift include tracks for certified rolling jacks?

Rolling jacks are necessary if you plan on using the lift for wheels-free tire and brake work. These jacks travel along tracks located on the inside of each runway and engage the vehicle by its frame or pick-up points. Not all four-post lifts come equipped with these tracks.

Is the lift runway wide enough for dually tires?

Wider runway widths of at least 24 inches are perfect for dual rear tires and make for easier positioning on the platforms.

What is the maximum number of lock locations?

The greater the number of lock locations (and the shorter the lock spacing), the greater the number of lift working heights. Technicians are not all the same size, so a greater range of working height options provides techs with the most ergonomic work environment options.

Is the space between columns clear of obstructions?

Make sure there aren’t any overhead obstructions to be wary of when raising the vehicle. Some medium-duty four-post lifts have an overhead cylinder that can damage mirrors when a truck is raised.

Is the runway spacing narrow enough to provide the versatility to work on light-duty vehicles as well?

Versatility of equipment use is a prime consideration in many shops. Some medium-duty four-post lifts have runways spaced too wide to lift pickup trucks, cars or vans.

Is the lift ALI Certified?

Protect your shop and your technicians. Make sure the lift is third-party tested and validated to meet the current ANSI ALCTV standard.

What productivity and longevity features come standard on the lift?

Look closely at the standard features offered on the lift. For example, the 30,000-pound capacity Rotary Lift SM30 four-post lift features a standard filter lubricator regulator to maximize the life of the lift, while at the same time adding the productivity benefit of easily accessible internal air.

09.28.2016 | Rotary Lift® Offers Affordable New Retrofit Options for Old Heavy-Duty Inground Lifts Existing pit often reusable with new certified replacement inground lifts

4 Post Lift
For repair shops with heavy-duty inground lifts that are 20 to 40 years old, escalating maintenance costs and safety concerns can lead management to conclude that it’s time for a new lift. If the price of an all-new heavy-duty inground lift puts it out of reach, Rotary Lift® offers three affordable retrofit options to install a new certified lift in the existing pit.

Rotary Lift’s 70Q, MOD30 and MOD35 heavy-duty inground lifts are available as direct structural “frame only” replacements for all Rotary Lift standard inground lifts, as well as most competitive inground lifts of this vintage. If an existing pit is still good, this strategy can save shops up to 50 percent of the cost of installing a new heavy-duty inground lift in a new pit. At the same time, installing one of the new ALI-certified lifts will bring the shop into compliance with ANSI safety standards and International Building Code (IBC) requirements.

Each hydraulic jack in a Rotary Lift heavy-duty frame-only retrofit inground lift has from 25,000 pounds to 35,000 pounds capacity. In most 20- to 40-year-old pits, each inground lift cylinder is rated at 18,000 lbs. Before the Rotary Lift retrofit options can be considered, the shop’s existing pit must be evaluated by a structural engineer to ensure it is in good condition and to determine how much additional load it can support.

“The cost of a new pit is a big part of the investment in a new inground lift,” said Doug Spiller, Rotary Lift heavy-duty product manager. “We’ve found the majority of 20- to 40-year-old inground lift pits can safely handle additional lifting capacity. When that’s the case, Rotary Lift provides viable and economical choices to upgrade to a higher-capacity, certified inground lift with minimal pit modification and cost.”

Retrofit Option 1. 70Q, Rotary Lift’s recently updated traditional inground lift is the most cost-effective retrofit option. Benefits include:

Available with two to three posts for a lifting capacity of 50,000 to 75,000 pounds.

Simple push button controls eliminate manual equalization of handles.

Can be built in custom lengths from 13 feet to 24 feet in 1 foot increments, to fit the wheelbase needs of all shops.

Retrofit Option 2. MOD30 is the industry’s original and best-selling modular heavy-duty inground lift. Benefits include:

Available with two or three cylinders for a lifting capacity from 60,000 to 90,000 pounds.

Ergonomic upright control console features joystick controls and technology that lets technicians access service, diagnostic and maintenance information, including up to 10 memorized whellbase settings.

Energy-efficient electric drive assembly requires just a half horsepower motor for wheelbase adjustment.

Retrofit Option 3. Shops can increase lifting capacity and add the latest technology with a Rotary Lift MOD35 inground modular lift. Benefits include:

Available with two or three multi-stage hydraulic cylinders to provide best-in-class lifting capacity of 70,000 to 105,000 lbs.

Patent-pending pendant-only remote control lets technicians operate the lift from anywhere around the vehicle for more efficient spotting and lifting.

Electric console can be located up to 100 feet away from the lift, providing technicians with additional work space around the vehicle.

Retrofitting a “frame only” MOD30 or MOD35 requires excavating additional space in the floor or pit for the power unit. Both of these premier heavy-duty lifts provide these additional benefits:

VEC™ Equalization and Control System allows technicians to control jacks individually for vehicle spotting and simultaneously for lifting.

Clear floor design: All housings are recessed to provide “zero clearance” drive-through when the lift is in the down position.

Nitrided shutter plate trench covers that automatically move to keep the pit covered at all times.

All Rotary Lift inground lifts feature an exclusive EnviroGuard™ coating, a quarter-inch thick polyurethane sealant that protects both front and rear jacks from electrolysis and harsh contaminants. Rotary Lift’s patented universal saddle adapter can be used with any of the company’s heavy-duty inground lifts to provide faster and easier setup.

06.09.2016 | Rotary Lift® Updates and Relocates Mobile Column Lift Battery Charger for Long-Lasting Performance Charger has proven reliability on Shockwave™-equipped lifts

4 Post Lift

Rotary Lift® has updated the battery charger used on its MACH Series mobile column lifts and has relocated it to a more protected area within the lift column for improved durability.

“We improved the popular MACH Series of mobile column lifts by moving the battery charger inside the structure for added protection, and at the same time enhanced the aesthetics of the lifts,” said Doug Spiller, Rotary Lift heavy-duty product manager. “The new charger offers the same power and performance as the previous battery charger in a smaller package.”

The on-board charger in each column uses 110v power to digitally charge two 12V batteries at one time, eliminating the need for expensive 220v wiring. Battery power means there are no power cords to clutter up the service bay, and the mobile columns will operate even during a power outage.

Rotary Lift Mach Series mobile columns are the fastest and easiest in the industry. They can raise a vehicle 70 inches in just 78 seconds. Lifting and lowering of all columns is automatically synchronized, and each column is equipped with a patented control panel so the technician can operate the entire lift from the most convenient column. Mach Series lifts are available in sets of two, four, six and eight mobile columns, with either 13,000 lbs. or 18,000 lbs. of capacity per column. 06.08.2016 | Five Things to Consider When Searching for a Four-Post Lift
Drive-on lifts come in a variety of sizes and configurations: Here’s how to determine which one is best for your facility

4 Post Lift Four-post drive-on vehicle lifts are easy to install, use and maintain. In fact, the only hard part about four-post lift ownership is the initial decision about which configuration to buy. That’s because lift manufacturers like Rotary Lift offer a wide variety of four-post models, with options designed to fit a variety of applications.

“Four-post lifts play an integral role in the vehicle service industry, because not all vehicles can be serviced by using a lift with arms or pads,” says Jim Dirksen, vice president of light-duty for Rotary Lift. “Sometimes, the size and weight distribution of a vehicle necessitates that it be driven onto runways. Four-post lifts are also ideal for simple maintenance, inspection procedures and general service, because they have easy drive-on access and feature an open space between the runways that provides access for technicians along the complete length of the runway for vehicle underbody viewing. If the customer can determine the right configuration during the buying process, the lift should provide years of worry-free service.”

How to choose the right four-post lift? There are five main factors to consider:

• Length. The wheelbases of the vehicles being lifted will play the most important role in four-post lift selection. First, the lift buyer should determine the wheelbase of the longest vehicle he or she is going to service. This number will determine the length of the lift. To accommodate a variety of wheelbase requirements, four-post lift runways can be ordered in many different lengths. When setting up a four-post lift bay, it is important to plan for adequate space in front of and behind the lift, taking the runways and any ramps into account. Most light- and medium-duty four-post lifts will fit in the Equipment & Tool Institute’s recommended 25-foot long bay, but tight drive-on/drive-off clearances can frustrate technicians and reduce productivity. That’s why Rotary Lift facility planning experts recommend a 28-foot-long bay for the company’s extended-length SM Series four-post lift, even though the lift is less than 24 feet long from end to end.

• Capacity. Once you have determined what length will be sufficient for your wheelbase needs, it is time to consider the weight of the vehicles that will be lifted. Four-post lift capacities range from 14,000 lbs. all the way up to 60,000 lbs. Since most vehicles – up to and including Class 3 pickup trucks like the Ford F-350 – weigh less than 14,000 lbs., a 14,000 lb. capacity lift will be sufficient for many facilities. If a shop services work trucks and other heavy fleet vehicles, it might be beneficial to select a four-post lift with 18,000 or 30,000 lbs. of capacity. A four-post lift’s physical footprint and rise time will typically increase with capacity, so the ability to lift heavier vehicles may come with space and efficiency tradeoffs. In general, 40,000-60,000 lb. capacity four-post lifts should be reserved for buses, RVs and Class 8 trucks.

• Speed. When it comes to your facility’s productivity and profitability, every second counts. The faster the technician can raise the vehicle, the sooner he or she can get to work and complete each job. While all four-post lifts are quick and easy to set up, only Rotary Lift is capable of providing the world’s fastest rise times. Its Shockwave™-equipped 14,000 lb. capacity SM Series and AR Series four-post lifts require just 35 seconds to reach full lifting height, which is twice as fast as a traditional four-post lift. Shockwave-equipped lifts also come with the exclusive Spotline™ laser spotting guide to make it even easier to drive onto the lift. To further increase productivity, consider a drive-thru model that has ramps on each end. This enables the vehicle to be driven on and off the lift in one direction, preventing congestion on the shop floor.

• Accessibility. Four-post lifts are available with either an open front or closed front design. An open front design eliminates the crossbeam between the runways at the front of the lift, which makes it easier for technicians to access engine and front suspension components. Increased accessibility and work space can be beneficial, but they are not necessary for all applications. Since open front lifts have wider footprints than closed front lifts, facilities with space restrictions and narrow bays may be better served by a closed front design.

• Versatility. While length, capacity and configuration selections will be primarily determined by the types of vehicles you service, other options are available that can greatly increase the versatility of your four-post lift. For instance, if you plan on using your lift for wheels-free tire and brake work, rolling jacks are a must-have. These jacks travel along tracks located on the inside of each runway and engage the vehicle by its frame or pick-up points. If you will be performing alignments, choose a four-post lift with an alignment kit. The jacks, turntables and slip plates that come with these lifts are compatible with most alignment systems, because it is ideal to order your lift from a dedicated lift manufacturer and your alignment instrumentation from a company that specializes in alignments. Bolt-on retrofit kits are available, making it easy to increase the versatility of four-post lifts already in place.

“At Rotary Lift, we are always researching, designing and testing new ways to make our lifts better,” says Dirksen. “All of our resources are dedicated to lifts and lift accessories. That’s part of the benefit of buying a lift from a lift company that has been an industry leader for more than 90 years. If you are outfitting your facility with premium equipment, it only makes sense to insist on vehicle lifts built by a company that focuses year-round on lifts.”

06.08.2016 | Rotary Lift’s Updated Four-Post Lift Line Offers Ideal Options for Express Lanes
Fast and versatile drive-on lifts help dealers boost profitability and customer satisfaction

4 Post Lift
North American dealers are increasingly using express lanes to boost service department profitability. By dedicating space for fast oil changes, tire rotations and vehicle maintenance inspections, they can draw more walk-in business while also increasing customer satisfaction. For fixed ops managers hoping to keep up with the competition by opening new express lanes, Rotary Lift offers a range of recently updated four-post lifts designed for speed and versatility.

“Four-post drive-on lifts are ideal for quick-service operations, because they require little setup before the vehicle can be raised in the air,” says Jim Dirksen, vice president of light-duty for Rotary Lift. “The technician can simply drive onto the lift’s runways and have the car or truck at a comfortable working height in minutes. Over the past couple years, Rotary Lift has expanded and upgraded our four-post lift line, so it is now easier for fixed ops managers to find the right lift for any application.”

Rotary Lift’s updated four-post lift line includes the 14,000 lb. capacity SM Series lift for cars, pickup trucks, vans and SUVs. The lift’s drive-on ramps are louvered for superior traction, and each ramp is fitted with rollers that reduce floor gouging during raising and lowering. All Rotary Lift SM Series four-post lifts come with a durable powder-coated hammer-tone paint finish.

SM Series four-post lifts are available with either an open front (model SMO14) or closed front (model SM14) design. The open front design eliminates the crossbeam between the runways at the front of the lift, which makes it easier for technicians to access engine and front suspension components. These open front lifts require taller columns and have wider footprints than closed front lifts, so facilities with narrow bays may be better served by a closed front design.

All open front and closed front SM Series four-post lifts are available with Rotary Lift’s timesaving Shockwave™ technology. Developed for quick service settings, Shockwave-equipped SM Series lifts (models SM14SW and SMO14SW) can be fully raised in just 35 seconds, which is twice as fast as standard four-post lifts. Shockwave-equipped lifts are powered by batteries and have onboard chargers, so they work during power outages and run on a simple 110V power connection. They also come with Rotary Lift’s exclusive Spotline™ laser spotting guide that makes it easy to center a vehicle on the lift’s runways.

SM Series four-post lifts can be fitted with optional rolling jacks that travel along tracks located on the inside of each runway. These jacks feature 7,000 lbs. of capacity each and make wheels-free tire, brake and suspension work possible. The lifts can also be configured for one-way drive-on, drive-off use, which saves setup time and reduces bottlenecks on the shop floor.

For fixed ops managers who need more versatility from their four-post lifts, Rotary Lift offers AR Series alignment lifts. AR Series four-post alignment lifts come with the same productivity enhancing features found on SM Series lifts. They are available in open (ARO14) and closed (AR14) front configurations and can be ordered with Rotary Lift’s Shockwave option to speed up the alignment process.

AR Series alignment lifts are equipped with interlocking spacers along the top of each runway, so technicians can place alignment turntables in various locations. The spacers make it possible to perform four-wheel alignments on vehicles with wheelbases as short as 71 inches (88 inches for extended-length models) and as long as 148 inches (165 inches for extended-length models). The lifts feature a new full-length runway design that allows the vehicle to smoothly roll back and forward during the alignment process. Since there are no obstructions on the runways, technicians can easily roll the vehicle to gather precise measurements. Rotary Lift’s recent alignment lift upgrades also include expanded rear slip plates that distribute the vehicle weight over more rolling balls, thereby helping to increase the lift of the slip plate assembly.

06.01.2016 | New Rotary Lift V-REX Vertical Rise Platform Lift Takes on the Biggest Jobs
Lift features industry’s strongest runways to provide peace of mind under heavy loads

WasteExpo
Rotary Lift introduces V-REX, a vertical rise, drive-on platform lift designed to take on the biggest, toughest vehicles without a whimper. V-REX has the industry’s most rigid and structurally sound lifting platforms to provide peace of mind under even the heaviest loads. Its patent-pending half-scissor legs and mechanical locking system are built to last, with high-strength steel where it counts and fewer wear parts and stress points than others in its category.

V-REX is manufactured with more steel than other vertical rise lifts — as much as 5,000 lbs. more steel per runway — for added strength without excessive cost. Rotary Lift engineers have optimized the steel content in the V-REX’s unique torque box runway design to offer platforms that are wider and stronger than others that may flex and sag under heavy loads. V-REX is available in three heavy-duty rated lifting capacities: 44,000 lbs., 64,000 lbs. and 80,000 lbs.

“Vertical rise platform lifts are increasingly popular because they can be used for many of the same applications as parallelogram lifts but with a smaller bay footprint and lower upfront investment,” explains Kirk Dawson, Rotary Lift vice president of heavy-duty. “Some customers have been wary of the lift style, though, because they’ve seen long runways deflect under load and they’ve been told by some manufacturers that capacity depends on the vehicle being lifted. V-REX alleviates those concerns. Rotary Lift’s all-new vertical rise lift has been independently tested at one and a half times its rated load capacity. Its stated load capacity is unchanged regardless of the type of vehicle being lifted or that vehicle’s weight distribution, which means technicians don’t have to waste time worrying about precisely positioning the vehicle on the lift before getting to work.”

V-REX is available with five runway lengths, from 28 feet to 48 feet. It can be installed surface-mounted, recessed or flush. V-REX is designed to maximize technician productivity, with a vertical rise of more than 77 inches, open front and rear, and plenty of clearance around the four legs.

The V-REX legs feature four-bar engineered rotational linkages that transfer shear forces to the foundation, optimizing lift efficiency and decreasing installation costs. This positive force leg design requires less maintenance than other styles. Because the legs feature rotational hinge links that rotate and pivot instead of sliding, they are more efficient and longer lasting.

Rotary Lift also has applied for a patent on the V-REX’s unique equalization system that’s built right into the hydraulic cylinder to protect it from damage and expensive recalibration visits.

Technicians operate the V-REX lift with a robust control console featuring simple buttons and switches for long life. The microprocessor-controlled unit monitors all mechanical and electrical synchronizations systems more than 125 times per second. The lift can be programmed with multiple preset heights. An optional pendant control lets technicians conveniently run the lift away from the console.

V-REX features Rotary Lift’s negative rake mechanical lock system with 10 locking positions at convenient, technician-friendly working heights. This locking system has proven reliable on Rotary Lift’s parallelogram lifts for many years.

A variety of optional equipment is available to further the productivity of V-REX, including rolling bridge jacks, wash bay kits, runway lighting, heavy-duty turntables for alignment service, and more.

V-REX is designed and manufactured with pride in Madison, Indiana. It is third-party tested and ALI certified to meet industry safety and performance standards. Like all Rotary Lift products, V-REX is backed by the industry’s largest factory-trained distributor network providing unmatched local service and support.

05.17.2016 | Rotary Lift® Launches New Low-Profile Double-Section Scissor Lift
Smooth scissor lift offers productivity, reliability and easy operation in a small footprint

90 Second Know HowThe new space-saving Rotary Lift RLP77 Double-Section Scissor Lift offers several innovative productivity features that make it a reliable and economical choice for quick-service jobs and smaller service bays.

The Rotary Lift RLP77 scissor lift’s twin platforms were designed with productivity in mind. To service the widest range of vehicles, the lift’s extra-wide platforms feature hinged ramps that fold up and lock in place to extend the vehicle pick-up point surface. The ramps also can fold 65 degrees down and away, to give technicians more access to perform wheel and brake service. With more than 78 inches of clearance (when installed above ground), the RLP77 provides more headroom than other lifts. A low-profile design allows vehicles to drive over the lift platforms with ease.

The Rotary Lift RLP77 scissor lift incorporates a patent-pending, fully mechanical hydraulic system that does the lifting work equally for both platforms. This Synchrodrive™ hydraulic equalization system uses fewer moving parts, hoses, valves and seals than other scissor lift systems, to provide greater reliability and fewer wear parts. Synchrodrive also includes unique Blocked Platform protection to prevent out-of-level lowering. If something causes one platform to stop lowering (if it runs into a piece of equipment accidentally left in the bay, for example) the Blocked Platform function will stop both platforms from lowering further.

“We conducted extensive field testing on the RLP77 Double-Section Scissor Lift,” says Bob Ford, Rotary Lift new product development manager. “In many cases, it was positioned in a bay right next to a competitive scissor lift. The technicians loved the blocked platform protection, the smooth, easy operation and the rigidity of the lift – it doesn’t bend, flex or strain when they put a heavier vehicle on it.”

Rotary Lift engineered the RLP77 scissor lift with a built-in dampener system that allows it to quickly, steadily and smoothly descend all the way to the floor. This eliminates the sudden acceleration in the last three to five inches of descent typical with other scissor lifts, which often results in a loud bang when the lift hits the floor.

The lift includes several features designed to protect against corrosion and wear, including a hot-dipped galvanized bottom weldment, patent-pending composite high-strength steel scissor legs, and stainless steel kicker rollers and kick plate. For added protection against accidental damage, the lift filter, regulator and lubricator assembly is located in a recessed area on the side of the control cabinet.

The Rotary Lift RLP77 scissor lift has a lifting capacity of 7,700 lbs. and offers the industry’s best minimum clearance of just 4 5/8 inches. It comes with three heights of long-lasting polymer rubber pad adapter sets that work with most cars. An optional set of extended height 7-inch adapters is available for lifting SUVs and frame-based vehicles with short wheelbases. The RLP77 scissor lift has been third-party tested and is ALI certified to meet industry safety and performance standards.

05.04.2016 | Rotary Lift® Earns U.S. Patent for Y-Lift™ Vertical Rise Platform Lift
Unique design maximizes speed and rigidity to increase service bay productivity

90 Second Know HowRotary Lift has received United States patent number 9254990 B2 covering two major aspects of the design of its award-winning Y-Lift™ vertical rise platform lift. These design features maximize rise speed based on vehicle weight, ensure a smooth rise and descent, and increase runway structural rigidity for more accurate measurements when performing alignments, especially on heavier vehicles.

Rotary Lift’s Y-Lift is a drive-on hinged lift that uses a patented design and unique Y-shaped legs to provide true up/down lifting. With no forward or rearward movement to reduce valuable bay space, it has a compact footprint to fit in smaller service bays. Its namesake legs eliminate the need for scissor mechanisms and corner posts common to other lifts, so technicians have at least 20 percent more room to work, as well as full vehicle access from side-to-side and front-to-rear. It can be used for general service work (model Y12) and vehicle alignments (model YA12).

The first enhancement covered by the patent is an innovative and efficient weight-sensing electro-hydraulic control system that enables the Y-Lift to raise vehicles up to 50 percent faster than other scissor lifts of similar 12,000 lb. capacity, while using the same amount of electrical power. This system uses an infinitely variable displacement hydraulic pump and valves that are controlled by an electronic feedback system that provides quick and level rise and descent.
The patent also covers increased structural rigidity provided by larger tension bars. These bars actuate the front legs at the same rate as the rear legs to ensure the level rise/descent of each runway. These tension bars improve alignment measurement accuracy for heavier vehicles by providing a more rigid and level platform. The bars also minimize downtime by improving accessibility to the hydraulic cylinder for easier serviceability.

“We designed the Y-Lift to provide maximum bay productivity,” explains Jason Matthews, one of the Rotary Lift engineers who developed the product. “Its fast rise and descent times mean technicians can start servicing vehicles sooner — and then move on to the next job faster — than they can with other lifts. Its superior rigidity ensures accurate four-wheel alignments on vehicles with wheelbases as short as 71½ inches to as long as 158 inches – from microcars to large pickups. It’s a versatile, productive and efficient lift for a wide range of applications.”
Made in Madison, Indiana, the Y-Lift is ALI gold-label certified to meet industry safety and performance standards.

Rotary Lift to Launch New Low-Profile Double-Section Scissor Lift at NADA Expo
Smooth scissor lift features patent-pending Synchrodrive™ hydraulic equalization system

90 Second Know HowRotary Lift will introduce a new scissor lift designed specifically for dealer quick-service bays at the upcoming NADA Expo in Las Vegas. The space-saving RLP77 Double-Section Scissor Lift has a small footprint and several innovative features to make it a reliable choice. See it live in Rotary Lift booth #2055C at the NADA Expo, held April 1-3.

The Rotary Lift Double-Section Scissor Lift’s twin platforms were designed with productivity in mind. To service the widest range of vehicles, the lift’s extra wide platforms feature hinged ramps that fold up and lock in place to extend the vehicle pick-up point surface. The ramps also can fold 65 degrees down and away, to give technicians more access to perform wheel and brake service. With more than 78 inches in clearance (when installed above ground) the lift provides technicians more headroom than competitive lifts. A low-profile design allows vehicles to pass over the lift platforms with ease.

The Rotary Lift Double-Section Scissor Lift incorporates a patent-pending, fully mechanical hydraulic system that does the lifting work equally for both platforms. Named Synchrodrive™, the hydraulic equalization system uses fewer moving parts, hoses, valves and seals than other scissor lift systems. The lift also features a unique blocked platform protection system that guards against the accidental blockage of the scissor mechanisms when lowering the lift.

Rotary Lift engineered the Double-Section Scissor Lift with a built-in damper system. This eliminates the sudden acceleration in the last three to five inches of descent typical with other scissor lifts, which often results in a loud bang when the lift hits the floor. The Rotary Lift damper system allows the lift to quickly, steadily and smoothly descend all the way to the bottom.

Other unique features include a hot dipped galvanized bottom weldment for corrosion protection, patent-pending scissor legs manufactured of composite high-strength steel, and stainless steel kicker rollers and kick plate to eliminate corrosion on high wear areas. For added protection against accidental damage, the lift filter, regulator and lubricator assembly is located in a recessed area on the side of the control cabinet.

In addition to the new scissor lift, dealers can check out several other productivity-enhancing lifts in Rotary Lift’s 2016 NADA Expo booth. A display showing the features of SmartLift®, the world’s most popular environmentally friendly inground lift, will be featured. The company will be staging “lift races” in which attendees can watch how much faster a Shockwave-equipped lift can raise a car than a standard lift. Dealers who are interested in servicing increasingly popular tall European-style vans will want to check out the SPO12 extended height two-post lift on display. Attendees can see additional Rotary Lift products in the Ford Motor Company (#123C), FCA US LLC (#5314N) and General Motors LLC (#2529C) booths on the trade show floor.

01.25.2016 | New Rotary Lift LED Lights Better Illuminate Components Under Trucks and Buses
Energy-saving Tech Lights for heavy-duty runway lifts feature unobtrusive design

When raised on vehicle lifts, trucks and buses can block overhead shop lights and force heavy-duty technicians to use other means to illuminate the work area. Traditional solutions – including incandescent flashlights, stand-mounted fluorescent lights and suspended work lights – are bulky and can obstruct access to vehicle components. They are also inefficient and can be too hot to touch after prolonged use.

Rotary Lift’s new LED runway light kit for heavy-duty vehicle lifts addresses all of these issues. The Line Light 4 kit includes four long LED light wands that unobtrusively attach to the lift itself, freeing up the technician’s hands. The Line Light 4 kit uses more than 600 LEDs producing more than 4,000 total lumens — the equivalent of about four 75-watt incandescent bulbs — and yet the lights remain cool to the touch even after hours of use.

“It can be difficult to get enough light under long, wide vehicles in heavy-duty service facilities,” says Doug Spiller, Rotary Lift heavy-duty product manager. “Rotary Lift’s new Line Light 4 LED kit was designed specifically for this setting. Its unobtrusive design allows for the free movement of technicians and their tools, and its rugged housing is built for harsh shop environments. Plus, LEDs use little energy, so facility managers don’t have to worry about big power bills from technicians leaving the lift lights on all day.”

The Line Light 4 kit (P/N FA5700) works with Rotary Lift’s HDC Series, parallelogram, SM30 and AR18 heavy-duty lifts, and can be retrofitted to most runway-style lifts. The kit’s four LED wands range from 50.5 to 56 inches long and can be connected in series to enable all lights to be controlled by a single switch.

Each Line Light 4 light wand is held in place by magnetic clips, which allow the wand to be repositioned along the lift’s runways as needed. The magnetic clips also enable each wand to be rotated along its horizontal axis to shed light on the floor, tool cart or vehicle underside. The magnetic clip setup, along with the Line Light 4 kit’s minimal wiring, ensures runway jacks can be rolled along the lift’s entire length without encountering any obstructions.

The Line Light 4 kit is part of Rotary Lift’s Tech Light™ line, which also includes the Line Light 2 kit for two-post lifts (P/N FA5701) and the Line Light R handheld lamp (P/N FA5702). To learn more about these work lights, and to watch a video of them in action, visit www.rotarylift.com/Tech-Lights/ or call 800-640-5438. For more videos, visit www.rotarylift.com/videos.
